A heartwarming May Day

 May is a month that has more events than other months. There are Children's Day, Parents Day, Teacher‘s Day, and Coming-of-Age Day, including Labor Day. So it is also called the 'House Month'. There are many events including warm spring weather before the hot summer. The same is true of our universities. Let's take a look at Teacher's Day and Coming-of-Age Day at our university.

Teacher's Day was designated to promote morale of teachers and improve social status by creating a social climate of respect for teacher‘s rights and respect for teachers. In short, it is a legal anniversary to express respect. Therefore, each department holds an event to deliver small flowers to professors. It fills teacher’s minds and makes them smile. Taking pictures is also a memory. On Teacher's Day, carnations are offered to express gratitude and respect.

Coming-of-Age Day is an anniversary designated to remind people of their responsibilities as socialites and to give them a sense of pride. It is the third Monday of May every year. Originally, Korea celebrated Coming-of-Age Day on April 20 respectively from 1973 to 1974, but from 1975 the date was changed to May 6 in time for May, the 'Youth Month'.
