 Water, commonly referred to as the “source of life”, it is closely connected to us every moment of our lives. It plays various essential roles in our planet such as drinking, washing, making food, and farming. In order to awaken diverse water-related problems caused by the recent increase in population and economic activity, the United Nations established World Water Day. In this article, let’s learn about World Water Day.

 

 World Water Day is a day to remember the importance of preventing water pollution and water shortages, which are becoming more serious day by day. And to realize how water is so important Starting in 1993, the United Nations enacted March 22 every year as World Water Day. This day is established to recognize and improve the seriousness of cooperation around the world to solve the problem about water pollution and lack of drinking water. Previously, in Korea, July 1, 1990, was designated as Water Day and the event was held since then. In 1995, after World Water Day was enacted, it has participated in the World Water Day event and celebrated it as a government event.

 In Korea, the World Water Day event organized by the Ministry of Environment and it is held every year. In line with the slogan of World Water Day, which changes every year, subject-related videos and awards for a man of merit are held too. And, water love campaigns and water-related academic events are also held in each region. In addition, a water love painting and photography contest will be held to promote World Water Day and participate in it.

 So far, we have learned about World Water Day. Let our university classmates realize the purpose of World Water Day, designated on March 22nd every year, And participate in various events, and celebrate this day.
