How to be Successful in College Life

In this essay, I want to talk about how to be successful in college life. I believe there are three things that we should achieve in college life including a good social life, health, and good grades. Even though we all know it is best to achieve all three, achieving two out of three is hard enough in the limited time. We, college students, should realize that we cannot achieve all three at the same time. Instead, we should focus on just two out of three.

The first important goal is having a good social life. In Korea, most of the college students enjoy drinking. This does help socialize with others in college, but one thing we should know is people get hangover. This hurts students’ grades and of course it damages people's health. Socializing is one of the most important factors in college life, but overdoing it can actually prevent you from achieving two or more goals in our college life. So what can be the best solution to achieve a good social life? I believe finding activities that people can do together with friends is the best way. I'm not saying drinking is bad. I'm just warning that drinking too much can bring down your grades and hurt your health.

Second, we should keep up our grades. Our job is to study as a student and it is our duty. At times we all abandon our duty and only focus on "fun stuff." Board Of Education recommends at least two hours of study outside of school each week for one unit class. Most of college students in Korea take about 18 units and that adds up to 36 hours of studying outside of class excluding the lecture hours. 36 hours may look too much. If you think about it and you put it in a week, it’s only about five hours a day. Of course on weekdays, we all have classes and we may not have time at home. If you use time between classes wisely, it isn't that difficulut to cover 36 hours. I believe we all know studying is time consuming so we shouldn't complain about getting bad grades. Instead, we should put more time into it. I believe that is the only solution to get good grades.

Last but not least, staying healthy is the most important factor in college life. Studying and socializing take a lot of energy. They are both time consuming and at times we need to stay up late to study and socialize. That is the reason why we should work out and stay in shape. Health can affect our college life crucially so we should try our best to stay healthy and get enough balanced nutrition.

It is hard to stay healthy, get good grades and have a good social life at the same time. If we plan our schedule and follow it accordingly, we should be able to have a successful college life without a doubt. Last thing I want to emphasize is: try your best to divide your time and use your time wisely. Don't waste your time. Time is a limited source like money and time is more valuable than gold.
