SK Wyverns victory in eight years
On November 12, in the KBO Korean Series, the SK Wyverns beat the Doosan Bears 5-4 at Jamsil Stadium. The KBO Korean Series is a match for the Korean professional baseball finals and it takes place in late October and early November. It is a dream match for all Korean professional baseball players and fans. This game is the highlight of the fall baseball, and the game will be the last of all professional baseball games this year.
Since baseball is a popular professional sport in Korea, the Korean Series final is attracting the biggest attention among all sports championship matches in Korea.
SK maintained an aggressive lineup from the beginning and put all its effort into ending the series. SK scored from the beginning of the first inning and was close to winning the game in the sixth inning, amid Kelly's good pitching. But SK allowed a tie with Doosan at the end of the sixth inning. As the result the game went to the 13th inning. SK successfully secured a solo homerun by Han Dong-min in the 13th inning to win the championship trophy. SK beat Doosan 5-4 to win.
With the win, SK won its fourth Korean Series title and the top spot in the regular league. Doosan sought to win the combined title, but it was a sad runner-up. The game, which started around 6:30 p.m., was played until 11:37 p.m. This is the third longest game in history, following the fifth match between the Hanwha Eagles and Samsung in 2006 and the second match between the Doosan Bears and the Samsung Lions in 2013.
It is a four-way win amongst seven games. Until now, the most winning team in the KBO Korean Series are the Kia Tigers (11times) and the most advanced teams (17times) is the Lions.
