Last June, the new Hwangryong Library, our university's pride, was opened. We currently have a total of two libraries: the Central Library and the Hwangryong Library. Located near the main gate, in the former university headquarters, Hwangryong Library is slightly different from the central library. The Central Library is located on the hill opposite the College of Humanities, and there are many useful books related mainly to majors in the collection. Also, you can find books of various genres, including novels, prose, and essays.
Hwangryong Library has a system that is closer to a reading room than a library. In order to use Hwangryong Library, it is essential that you register on the library application with a student ID.
Hwangryong Library is a four-story building, with one basement floor and a wide variety of facilities. The lounge on the first floor has a snack bar and cafe, an information search and unmanned print facility, and an open learning facility. On the first basement floor, there is a 24hour reading room, which is an intensive reading space. On the 1.5th floor, there is a creativity reading room with desktop computers installed. Group study rooms, presentation rooms, and conference halls are located on the second floor.
The group study room is divided into four-people and eight-people rooms. At least three people must be recruited to use four rooms, and at least five people must be recruited to use eight rooms.
Reservations must be made first through our university’s library application in order to use the rooms. First, in the library application, enter the Group Study Room menu. Then select the space suitable for the number of people you will study with and make a reservation for the desired time. Reservation certification shall then be made in the seat management kiosk system (0.5F/2F in hwangryong Library), and confirmation must be completed for the group study room by the minimum number of people who have been booked. Group study rooms are useful when studying with friends or group study members.
On the 2.5th floor, there is a Convergence Reading Room that can accommodate many people. And on the third floor, there is Smart Reading Room 1 and a Truth Exploration Room. There is also a Cube Lounge that allows discussion and collaboration. And there is a locker space where you can store your personal items. To use the locker, you have to issue a password after making a reservation on the library app, and you can use it for one day of 24 hours. You must return after use, so be aware of this. The fourth floor is equipped with Smart Reading Room 2 and a lounge area.
Libraries are public facilities that everyone uses, so we must be familiar with the rules when using them. First, all beverages and food products in all reading rooms are restricted, except water bottles with caps. Second, the space for personal laptops is the 1.5 floor Creativity Reading Room and the thirdfloor Truth-finding Room – laptops are prohibited from other reading rooms. Also, since the sound of a keyboard and mouse on a personal laptop can interfere with other people's learning environment, you should use a quiet keyboard and mouse pad even in the reading rooms where the laptop is allowed. Third, avoid excessive noise in rest areas. Because the soundproofing is not working well, you should be careful because it can interfere with the nearby reading room.
Hwangryong Library, a state-of-theart facility and pride of our university has been well-received since it opened last June, and its facilities are available not only to our students but also to our local residents. Why don't you use the library to prepare for this year's final exam? We are sure it will bring about good results.
