The place where we live now is 'Korea'. A very big war broke out 70 years ago in this land where we live. Through this war, we were divided into South and North korea, many people were injured and killed, many lost their hometowns and families. Then, let's find out why a war like this broke out.

The name of this war is the Korean War. The Korean War is a war on the Korean Peninsula that broke out in the early morning of June 25, 1950. North Korean communist army illegally invaded across the 38th parallel of the inter-Korean military demarcation line. Before the Korean War, the Republic of Korea was under Japanese rule. However, with the end of World War II in 1945, the Republic of Korea was liberated from Japan's illegal occupation. Despite being freed from Japanese rule, South Korea and North Korea came under the forced military rule of the United States and the Soviet Union in the process of establishing an independent nation after liberation. The trusteeship of the United States and the Soviet Union respectively led to ideological confrontation within our people and confrontation between the United States and the Soviet Union. In the end, the Korean Peninsula was divided into the South and the North Korea.

The Korean War broke out June 25, 1950, and ended on July 27, 1953. It lasted a total of three years and one month. During the war, about 130,000 South Korean soldiers were killed and 450,000 others were injured. In addition, countless people lost their homes and their precious families and friends. Since the Korean War, we have become the only divided nation in the world, and our people are still living with the danger of war.

After the war, about 10 million separated families were made, many people missed their families.

Discussions have been held between the Red Cross societies of the two Koreas for the separated families, but have not been implemented. Then in 1985, the historic first reunion was held with the "Hometown Visit Group and Art Performance Group of North and South Korean Migrant Families." At that time, 35 South Koreans and 30 North Koreans met their families. Since then, there have been several reunions of separated families, and the 21st round of face-to-face reunions of separated families has recently been held for the last time in August 2018.

It has already been 70 years since the Korean War broke out. The number of separated families living in longing for their families who have fallen into the South and the North is also decreasing. The outcome of the Korean War is sad and sad, but we are living today because there were people who fought and sacrificed during the war. By reading this article and learn about the Korean War, I hope you have time to think about the noble victims on the coming June 25.
