1.Please introduce yourself

Hi. My name is Wang Jia Tong(王佳桐). I am 30 years old in Korea, and I finished my education major at Wenzhou University and came to Gunsan University in September, 2017. I am currently studying at Kunsan University's Global Startups Department. I am working on startups at sis Research Center, on the 4th floor of the Natural Science University. Generally, when I am in the lab, Korean and Chinese students study to start their businesses and how to view their businesses.

2. Why did you come to Kunsan University to study startup?

I've had a few experience in business. The conclusion that I thought is startups should have human networks, economic capital, technology, knowledge, and much experience. I came to Gunsan University's Global Startups Department in order to gain experience and learn skills and knowledge. And this opportunity will take me a step closer to reaching my goal.

3. What is your goal at Kunsan University's Global Startups Department?

I have 3 goals. First. I study Korean hard. I think I should write a doctoral dissertation in Korean and want to communicate well with other Koreans.

Second, I learn knowledge and experience which is unknown in China. However, the classes in Korea and in China are different and sometimes difficult to understand because of the language. But my professor is considerate to me a lot. If I don’t understand anything in class, the professor teaches me slowly and I learn easily. And professor gives me opportunities to participate in workshops about starups which is helping me broaden my acquaintances.

Third, I want to travel all over Korea. I lived in Korea for about a year, but I regret that I have not been to many places. I think Korea has a beautiful landscape. So before going back China, I will make precious memories that I will never forget.

4.What is your goal in China after completing all of your courses at Kunsan University?

The Chinese university system and the Korean university system are very different. Chinese universities have a systemic hierarchy of [Professor-Assistant Professor-Instructor-Teacher]. I am a teacher who teaches practical lessons, prepares materials, and makes schedules for the department. It is similar to an assistant in Korea.

I will go to Onju University in China and educate students about the experience I had in Korea. If I teach startup by mixing Korean and Chinese cultural technological resources, it will certainly be a class with lots of interest. In order to do so, I will continue to study the startups of Korea and China and try to seize many opportunities to learn about them in Korea.

6. Lastly, how are you studying Korean?

I have been studying Korean for 3 hours everyday. However, I am not doing well these days because of my thesis. I bought a textbook and study it alone, but sometimes I don't know something. In this case, I solve my curiosity by asking Koreans. I am also trying to improve my listening skills by listening to Korean language such as weather reports and news. The most helpful thing is to talk to Korean friends. Last winter, I could talk a lot with my Korean friends. And I improve my Korean skill.
